so, michael wants to have a band and, while i don't love the idea, i'm letting him run with it. in the event that we don't get a band, i had thought about using itunes for the music. mainly because i am desperate to save some money anywhere we can (my stomach turns every time i think about the total cost of this thing), but also because i don't look forward to trying to book another vendor. it's exhausting to research, email, meet with, and decide on someone (not to mention flagstaff is limited and people get booked up quickly). i also think it goes well with trying to have a more casual wedding.
however, internet research has shown me that itunes can be a little risky. in my opinion, i think if i plan hard enough to make playlists & get someone exuberant enough to announce things, it'll be fine. how many great parties have you been to that include just an ipod? but limited rehearsal with rental equipment & the potential for things to go wrong (i don't want poor kirk trying to win a computer battle all night) make me nervous.
so i'm agonizing over it and want to know your honest opinion. do you think it could be pulled off?

I say that if Michael really wants a band, he needs to man up 100% so you don't have to stress-totally his project! On the other hand, I think if you gave Alex the responsibility he would make an amazing DJ

because they are expensive and it's insanely time consuming to research people, contact them, see if they're available, etc. plus, you have to do extra work with a dj (putting together song lists and telling them what you don't want to hear, blahblahblah)
i figure if we have to do all that stuff for a dj, why don't we just do it for ourselves without payout anyone 100s of dollars?
i like kristina's idea for alex to do it - other's can help put the music all together...

I was ipod man at a wedding once. It went fine. They had a playlist up and I just hit play. Every once in a while they asked me to hit "pause" so that they could announce something. I stayed just sober enough to handle that level of responsibility and it worked out.
I still like the thought of Michael's band. Since he doesn't seem to care about most aspects of the wedding, and this is the only thing that has really seemed important to him, maybe he should be checking it out. It is up to him though......
